A Spender Amidst the Recession

I am a fashion lover. I love clothes. I love bags. I love shoes. I love wallets. I love accessories. I love techy gadgets. I love cars. I love computers. I love dining out. I love cafes. I love traveling. I love pampering myself. I love the luxuries of life. I love material things.
Then again, this materialistic person also loves God, loves her husband, loves her parents dearly, loves her family, loves and cares for her friends, loves her pets like family, loves her relatives, and loves her country sincerely.
This materialistic person has a soul. Being a fashionista doesn’t mean I don’t care about what’s happening to our economy. It doesn’t mean I don’t care about the recession. It doesn’t mean I don’t care about the people who have lost their jobs during these tough times. It doesn’t mean I don’t care about the issues of our world – be it environmental, economic, or social among others.
I admit to spending or living the luxurious life amidst the recession, because that’s just how I am. I admit to being an opportunistic, because you can get the luxuries of life cheaper during the recession.
But without people like me, how will the economy rise up again? Without people who want to spend, how can companies rise up from their fall? Without people like me, how can companies sustain their business? Without people like me, how can companies retain their employees? Without people like me, how can employees not lose their jobs? Without people like me, how can the jobless get hired? Without people like me, how can the companies hire more people? Without people like me, how can the companies expand? Without people like me, how can companies help improve the economy?
I am not telling you to be a slave to consumerism. I am not telling you to spend all your money. I am not telling you to max out all your credit cards. I am simply telling you to spend a little bit more. SPEND!
If you have spare money, don’t be too tight. You can’t bring it to the next world anyway. By spending, you are contributing to the economy. If we all spend a little bit more, then perhaps the recession will end sooner than we think.
