NY Fashion Week: Lhuillier and more

Last week was a big week for the Fashion industry.

First off there was the successful Fashion’s Night Out held last September 10. I was supposed to go to NorthPark Center in Dallas (the closest I could get to celebrating FNO) but it was raining and had to finish deadlines. UGH. But it was chaos in New York. Lots of designers, celebrities, models, fashion icons, and shoppers! Free champagne, swag bags, free makeovers, free fajitas, free bus rides, etc. etc. etc. Oh I envy you New Yorkers!!!

Aside from that, the New York Fashion Week for Spring 2010 started. A lot has praised Gwen Stefani for her new line for LAMB. So who else showed their collection at the NY Mercedez Benz Fashion Week so far?

Why I Love New York: The Sales

The reason why I love New York is their TDF sample sales and the brands that cannot be found anywhere else in the US!!! Why am I talking about it now? Well, the Barney’s Warehouse sale started earlier, at 8 am. And there were Christian Louboutins for $295 and Marni boots for $180. I’m gonna faint! Let me just quote what Izzy Grinspan from Racked.com has posted:

8:02am: Shoes first! Loubs for $295, Marni rain boots for $180.

8:05am: Just got busted for taking pics. They’re strict this year. Manolos for $665, YSL platforms for $895, lots of Prada (one pair $369).

8:06am: One girl just shrieked, “It’s my siiiiiiize!!!”

8:10am: Hot pink satin Loubs for $240.53. Lanvin, too—I see one pair for $381.

8:11am: Just heard that they’re holding the line outside.

8:16am: OK, clothing time! I see a Balenciaga studded tank for $149.50. Miu Miu, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Armani, Jil Sander, Junya Watanabe, Narcisso, Vionnet, Prada, Proenza Schouler, lots of Barneys label…

8:17am: Lanvin dress $159. Denim starting at $59 for colors, mostly $79 and $89 for regular washes. Rag & Bone dark wash is $89…

Victoria’s Secret 2009 Fashion Show in NY

Each year, I look forward to this. Come November, they will be holding the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York. I look forward to it. I am hoping its going to be better. 2006 was by far the best I’ve seen. 2007 was such a flop (in my honest opinion). And 2008 was a comeback for them. This 2009, I am certainly hoping they give it all their best to give a good show, especially that its in NY, one of the fashion capitals in the world. How I wish they put Lady Gaga in there! What do you think?

Topshop Opens in New York

The most awaited store in New York has opened. Topshop officially opened April 2nd with Topshop Boss – Sir Philip Green and Kate Moss (who has her own Topshop line) in tow. New Yorkers are really lucky. Not only did they witness the most awaited store opening of the first Topshop in the US, but they get the first dibs on Topshop US stuff and they also get to see Kate Moss! Kate Moss has been my fave supermodel since I was in highschool.

There was a line outside the boutique way before the store opened and I was amazed at the people waiting there. Funny because there was someone from London who flew to New York just for the opening of Topshop… Umm??? Topshop based in the UK? Umm… Topshop Fanatic Alert!?! Well, watch the video for the whole story. You’ll also get to see Kate Moss dancing.

Top Shop New York Opening

On April 2nd, we will witness the birth of the first US Top Shop boutique – in New York. Yay to New Yorkers but sad for the rest of us. Hehe. But anyway, at least that’s a good start. Or is it not? Well, perhaps a lot of Americans are deprived of Top Shop stuff – like they have to go to London just to be able to buy Top Shop stuff – thus all the hype. Lucky me, I’ve been shopping at Top Shop when I was still in the Philippines because there are a couple of branches there. That’s why I wasn’t entirely excited when Top Shop announced it was branching out here in the US. Ugh… it really pays to live in New York – the sample sales, the freebies, the accessible brands, the tourist spots, the Serendipity cafe… oh and home of Gossip Girl and other fave movies and TV shows!

Louis Vuitton NY During the Holidays

I completely forgot to post about this. I have read in the forums (Purse Blog, yes I’m a TPF’er!) that they wrapped up Louis Vuitton New York during the 2008-2009 holiday season. And as I was organizing my mailbox, I ran into this photo. It was sent to me by a family friend/distant relative during their last trip to New York. Take a look at how gorgeous Louis Vuitton NY boutique is during the holiday season. Love it! They should have done it in LA too! It’s just too lovely to look at. I wonder if they threw out these lovely panels after the Holidays. It could have been a lovely piece of art in your home! Either Louis Vuitton kept it, or it’s already sitting at a lucky someone’s home by now.
