How To: Apply Mascara

Posted on March 4th, 2008 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | Leave a Comment »

Applying mascara can be tricky because sometimes it tends to mess everything up. Here are a few tips to consider just before you apply that to your lashes….

  • Curl your lashes before you apply mascara. It will open up and frame your eyes especially if you have short lashes. TIP: Using a lash curler start squeezing in steps starting from the lashline up to 3/4 of your lash.
  • When ready to apply, place your finger just below the eyebrow and pull up for easy application.
  • Hold the wand horizontally and sweep mascara from roots to end applying only to the last tips on first application. While sweeping, roll the want slightly and wiggle slightly from side to side for even distribution.
  • Let the mascara dry for 4-5 minutes before applying the next coat. Don’t hurry, do other things. Before you go on with the next coat, check if the mascara is dry. Try blinking, if tiny marks were left on your eyelids, then it’s still wet. Clean lids with cottonbuds. If dry, continue with the second coat like you did in the first.
  • If you want thicker lashes, carefully apply mascara to the upper side of the lashes but do not overload!

Fashion Juice Tip:
Do not apply a mascara color that’s too dark. If you have light colored hair, stick to brown colored mascara.

Why a Powder or Compact BRUSH is a MUST

Posted on February 22nd, 2008 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | 2 Comments »

I’m pretty sure not all of you reading this isn’t SO into makeup. I know because I’m one of them. Maybe you’re shocked! A lot of people I know think that I use heavy makeup. But I just want to clear this up… Not because I love fashion and I love dressing up means I use a lot of cosmetics.

So what do I use? I use ONLY a compact powder and a colored lip gloss… that’s it. Well, there’s the occasional eye brow pencil and blush. And when I say occasional, as in special occasions like wedding, anniversaries, Christmas (my birthday), and probably New Year (though I may have used eye brow pencil once in a while… like I can’t remember when). My eye brows aren’t perfect so when I feel I have to be presentable, I turn to my ever dependable brow filler. And the blush… only when I look pale (I’m not exactly anemic, but I USED TO BE way below the normal blood count).

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

Posted on February 11th, 2008 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | Comments Off

This season is the driest of all and perhaps I should have posted this way before. However, whatever season you have in your part of the world, it is most important to MOISTURIZE! The key to maintaining baby soft skin is to moisturize your skin daily. Now if your problem is you have oily skin or sensitive skin, Fashion Juice recommends a product suited for your skin type. Dove sensitive skin facial lotion is soothing to the skin. I use this personally whenever I feel my skin gets dry because of the weather. You can also use this after washing with a facial cleanser and applying toner in the morning and at night. Though I have my new FREE facial products from Proactiv, I’m keeping this handy for emergencies. You’ll never know when your skin gets thirsty especially during the winter season.

FASHION JUICE TIP: Don’t apply moisturizer with a dirty face. If you’re not home, have facial wipes handy to clean your face before you apply moisturizer. What’s best though is to have a pocket size clear soap. Head on to the ladies room, wash your hands with the soap, then wet the face with lukewarm water, use the clear soap, and rinse. Pat dry with facial tissue and apply moisturizer. Touch up with powder, lip balm, and lip gloss.
