Nordstrom’s Clinique & Bazaar Fashion Show

Last Saturday, I was fortunate to watch Nordstrom’s Clinique & Bazaar “Beauty at Every Age” Fashion Show at NorthPark Center in Dallas. Up to now, I don’t know if Cadillac and NorthPark Center will ever bring back the “Fashion at the Park” fashion event / fashion show like they did last year and the year before that. I was able to attend the CFDA fashion show night where I got to see Marchesa, Doo Ri, Thakoon, Peter Som, etc. So basically, I’m pretty much checking out the NorthPark Center events every now and then. Well, at the last minute, I decided to head to NorthPark upon reading that there will be a mini fashion show care of Nordstrom, Clinique, and Bazaar Magazine… I wasn’t even prepared and only brought my point and shoot camera.

Anyway, the show was all about beauty at every age, Clinique’s beauty tips and Bazaar magazine’s fashion/styling tips combined. They featured models in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. They gave away swag bags and also have trivia questions where you get to win prizes.

Let’s start with the women in their 20s. I missed one lady coz I was moving to a different spot. I first tried taking a shot above the ramp but decided to just go down for a better view.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Model Search

Victoria’s Secret 2009 Fashion Show in NY

Each year, I look forward to this. Come November, they will be holding the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York. I look forward to it. I am hoping its going to be better. 2006 was by far the best I’ve seen. 2007 was such a flop (in my honest opinion). And 2008 was a comeback for them. This 2009, I am certainly hoping they give it all their best to give a good show, especially that its in NY, one of the fashion capitals in the world. How I wish they put Lady Gaga in there! What do you think?

Confessions of a Fashion Idol

Fashion At The Park, Part 2

So you thought my previous post is all there is to the “Fashion at the Park” event? That’s where you got it all wrong. The Fashion at the Park event is not all fashion show. Cocktails were served prior to the Fashion Show and an after-party at the tents completed the whole thing. It was a fun-filled night for a Fashionista like me and I’m sure you will too if you were there. So if you are a Fashion Show virgin, I definitely suggest attending one whenever you get the chance. Fashion at the Park in Dallas, Texas

For those who are looking forward to this post, here you go. Fashion Juice went to Fashion at the Park last October 11. The Fashion Show runs from October 10 to 16, 2008. I chose to go on a Saturday not because it’s a weekday but becase it’s when the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund is scheduled.

CFDA is short for the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This runway show celebrates the five years of CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Who’s featured? Designers who were award finalists of CFDA, featured in Vogue such as Doo Ri, Phillip Lim, Michael Bastian, Marchesa, Thakoon, and Peter Som. It was on 2003 that Vogue partnered with CFDA to nurture young talented American designers. It offers financial help, business expertise, and mentoring to the next generation of American fashion desiners. The goal of the fund is to encourange and enable designers to achieve their design and business plans. To your right is a lovely creation from Marchesa. This red pleated tiered ruffle gown with flower detail at bodice is one of the most applauded creations during that night.

Chanel Spring 2009 Show

Guys and girls, one of the latest shows in Paris is Chanel. Of course there’s also Alexander McQueen, Ciambattista Valli, Louis Vuitton, and Valentino among many others. But, as you know, I have a love for Chanel so I’m featuring it first. Looking at Chanel’s collection, all I can see is a lot of “First Lady Outfits” and some punk sophistication. I can clearly see the Olsen’s twins wearing some of the outfits Karl Lagerfeld has designed for the Spring 2009 collection.

Anyway, another thing I’ve noticed in their collection is the latest handbags Chanel has made for us for Spring. I am so excited. I can see rectangular shopping totes that looks pretty affordable than their usual prices. Also, there are a lot of white and black squarish quilted totes… something you can tag along anytime of the day. And have you seen those printed flap bags? There’s a printed floral flap bag, a black and white abstract print and so much more! I can’t wait to see all of them personally. Anyhow, there’s also something that’s bothering me about Chanel’s collection. Notice the black and white print in some dresses? I’m bothered that it’s somehow similar to Michael Kors’ latest collection. Good thing the design is different but still quite bothering if you’d ask me. If I’d buy a Chanel dress I wouldn’t want it to be mistaken as something else. Oooh… and have you seen the rubber swim suits? They are gorgeous! However, I doubt that you can seriously wear them to the beach or the pool. I think it’s gonna be pretty hot wearing those in the summer. At the same time, I don’t know how it will feel when worn. Perhaps it’s just all for show! Well, the rich and the elite have their ways… So my verdict on Chanel’s Spring 2009 collection? Soooo Chanel. Bravo to Karl Lagerfeld for maintaining the Chanel identity. Check out the video of Chanel Spring 2009 show below.
