About 2 weeks ago, our new digital camera arrived in the mail. Of course, hubby was so excited! This is our gift to ourselves. HAHA! A combined gift, so to speak. We wanted a digital camera that will be able to capture great photos at night. We were thinking of getting an SLR but we opted for this semi-SLR because of 7 things:

1. It’s way cheaper than SLR cameras.
2. We wanted an SLR camera that can record HD-quality videos. However, there’s not many choices at the moment and they are very expensive. So, we’ll just have to wait for more SLR cameras with HD video-recording to come before we shell out that much cash. Thus, a semi-SLR will do us good, for now.
3. We got a great deal at NewEgg.com. For just $339, we got the Canon Powershot SX10 IS digital camera, plus a camera bag, and 8 GB HDSC memory card. A great bargain? Of course!
4. It’s easier to use for NON-photog pros like us. It’s like using a point-and-shoot camera but has the features of a digital SLR! I recommend this for beginners who wants to move on to SLR cameras later on.
5. You can swivel the display. So you can see yourself before you take your picture.
6. 10 Mega pixels, 20x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, Combined Zoom of 80x.
7. 5.0-100mm wide angle lens plus a whole lot other features like image stabilization, etc.

As for our old Olympus underwater digital camera, it will still do us good whenever we want to take pictures underwater! It would be a great companion to the beach and also a great point-and-shoot to bring when you don’t want to carry all that bulky stuff. However, we still bring both in case one runs out of battery or something. As for the SLR, we’ll have to hold that thought until more SLRs with HD video recording are produced.

Sorry for the photos. I know they are way too big. I didn’t resize them because I usually use Multiply and they resize the pic right away. It’s my first time to use Photobucket in my website and didn’t know the original size will be shown. Hehe. My bad. I’ll have to resize my pics from now on.
