Previously, my closet looks like this (the shoes were outside the closet but then I put them in and they were all on the floor)

Then I decided I would use this shoe rack I use for slippers and running shoes for the walk-in…

So now it looks like this…

If you noticed, instead of buying three more (I had one already), I bought just two. It would be costly to buy more, and I’m going to be broke. LOL! I have ton of decors and furniture to buy for the whole house. So I can’t splurge on the walk-in-closet right now. It was a good idea though because by connecting the shoe racks, I had an extra support (white). Then I divided the layers so that the boots will fit. I actually like it.

The previous gray wire racks on the floor were assembled into a square holder and I covered it with a throw. It’s temporary though, I have to buy those drawer bins… in the future If you’re wondering what’s inside, they are “pambahay clothes” – clothes you wear at home – shorts, jogging pants, shirts, pajamas.

Above, I turned the plastic drawers into a little vanity area. I plan to cover that too and maybe add more drawers so I would have more table space for another “Lady” jewelry holder.

That’s the Fretlight guitar that I’ve won. I have to hook it up on the wall. The one on the box is not the color that I have. I have an electric blue one. I’ll feature it sometime soon.

Love this mirror… it has that elegant/antique flair to it. The other side is 5x zoom. Perfect for scrutinizing my face. LOL!

I would love to have an ottoman or kiddie chair (so it would fit) inside the closet beside my little vanity area…

I’m planning to get a plain ottoman though… from Bed Bath & Beyond… probably a beige one to match the walk-in-closet.

I just wanted to share this shoe rack from Bed Bath & Beyond… it looks fun, noh? But it would be costly to but a lot of these, not to mention space-consuming. Oh, and boots and running shoes might not fit…

So anyway, I’m sure there are a lot of you out there who have a lot of accessories too. So my question is, how are you keeping up with organizing them? With a ton of accessories piled up, sometimes, you tend to forget you have this and that. So here is CLOSET TIP #1 from MFJ on how to organize your accessories.

I previously bought the Neatnix Jewelry organizers from Bed Bath and Beyond. They are great for my necklaces, rings, and earrings. Ooooh I was so happy at that time because you can buy a lot and stack them up, but -> I was actually planning for a dream closet. I was planning on getting a long table for my dream closet. HAHA. The long table that you see in jewelry stores – the one with the glass top and has an opening at one side… yup, that’s it. I would lay all of these Neatnix organizers there like in a store. But now that we’ve got a home, a long table won’t fit. LOL! Perhaps if I win the lottery, I can buy a house with a walk in closet as big as our current Master Bedroom. If we were able to buy a house with 4 bedrooms, I would have converted the other room to just a closet/bag room. It was the original plan. But we opted for a newer home with only 3 but bigger rooms. Anyway, another downside to this is it’s costly – at $14.95 per stack. And I couldn’t even fit everything here. The necklace stack is not enough and it’s not appropriate for huge necklaces. On top of it all, there’s no room for my bracelets. But anyway, until now I make use of my Neatnix for my other accessories. Bangles can be put in another accessory organizer such as the next one.

When I went home last 2007, I found a hanging pocket jewelry organizer in SM. There’s also one at Bed Bath and Beyond but is like more than three times the price of what I bought back home. Below is the one you can find at Bed Bath and Beyond, selling for $14.99. Ouch. So it was cool. I simply hang it in the closet. No need to dig through a pile of accessories. But again, You’ll have to buy how many to keep everything in one pocket? Or maybe, you can put the sets altogether in one pocket but still, even three of these won’t be enough. And huge bangles won’t fit. Plus, I don’t want it hanging together with my clothes. I have a bit of an O.C.D. (self diagnosed). But anyway, I’m still using mine until I get extra budget to buy more of what I’m about to show you after the hanging pocket jewelry…

What I want is this…

So prior to Christmas I went to Ross just to finish up my holiday shopping. I saw this Lady looking at me, telling me to get her. LOL! I instantly knew what to do with her. Images of earrings, necklaces and bracelets hanging on her neck, necklace, and dress, come to mind. I must get her. Unfortunately, we had to buy a lot that day… and that was also the day I took the large faux fur vest. It was a toss up between the two. Oh I should have known. I chose the faux fur vest only to go back and return it. It was too large. Read about it here. So anyway, when I went back, I made sure to get the Lady. Yay!

I wanted to get one to put on top of my future vanity area. Actually, I want at least two or three. But Ross is a discount store of all sorts of last season pieces from designers, etc. So I really have no idea where this came from and if I’ll ever find another one again. I hope I find another Lady like her because right now she might suffer from muscle pains because of a ton of accessories I let her wear. Teeeheee. By the way, I got her for $14.99. So for that price, I would definitely pick the Lady from among the other organizers above. My Lady doubles up as an organizer and decor in one. So I would definitely go with her.

There’s still a drawback to this jewelry and accessory holder. No hope for bangles for her. The bangles were simply hung in another bracelet that has a lock to it. But anyway, I’m okay with that. She is such a lovely decor to put in my closet. I just hope to find another one like her and everything will look organized. She won’t look too cramped. This photo doesn’t do justice. I’ll take another shot when I take a photo of my newly organized closet. But I’m telling you, she withstood more than a hundred pieces in this photo. Oh, and even though it looks messy in the photo, the accessories hanging in there were actually easier to find, not to mention more accessible as compared to the previous plastic Rubbermaid storage I have been using for my other accessories (shown above with my cute little niece Isabelle).

But okay, I don’t have any more pictures of the rest of her closet. But you’re probably wondering… who is Jamie Cuaca? For those who don’t know, Jamie Cuaca is a Chinese-Indonesian based in Singapore. She’s a former Singapore Airlines flight attendant who married an uber rich Indonesian businessman… and take this… for those living in Southeast Asia, you should thank her because she brought the first Manolo Blahnik store to your region! So… who wants her closet? Especially the bag closet? LOL! Drooling… it’s such a bag heaven for me! I want it!

Dreaming…

1. Go to the beach – carry that lazy a$$! It’s important to go to the beach especially if you live in an area that has a winter season. It’s not like everyday you can go fun in the sand and sun. So if I were you, take this chance to go to one!

2. Engage in some kind of outdoor sports/activity – be it walking, running, football, basketball, hunting, camping, fishing, volleyball, tennis, or golf (among other things), just do it! It’s time to sweat. If you need to go to the beach and show off some skin, make sure you have the body. You don’t have to be skinny, you just need to get toned.

3. Clean your closet – once in awhile we have to get rid off the old stuff. If there’s any piece of garment you haven’t worn in more than a year, get rid of it! This is the season of Yard Sale, so if you have one in your neighborhood, it’s your chance. What can you do with a couple of bucks? Buy something new for this summer! If you don’t need the money, then just donate it to your local charity.

4. Go on a road trip - gas prices are rising but if you go on a road trip with a couple of friends, you get to save on what would be plane fare expenses. You don’t have to go far, just look for a nearby state or city and see what attractions are available. You can go swimming, camping, shopping at an outlet, go to an amusement park, catch a concert or broadway show, take a boat cruise or a train tour, or just take pictures of a famous attraction and then go drinking in your hotel or inn. What’s more is that you can visit family and friends in the neighboring states or provinces.

5. Do a charitable or environmentally-friendly act – you can join a fun run or marathon for a cause. As simple as planting trees in your backyard would be a great idea too. Buying eco-friendly stuff is also something you can do. If you’re a busy person, then simply donate a substantial amount to your favorite charity – an amount higher than what you usually shell out for charities.
