The night before the Pacquiao-Clottey fight, we had really delicious pancit (noodles) along with some delicious fish, kilawin and pork. Ate Marissa cooks really well. YUMMY!!! We couldn’t stay that long though ‘coz we promised to take our friend (from California) to a Dallas Club for the Pacquiao pre-party. I will probably post something all about it soon.

On Monday (or was it Tuesday), we had Kamayan dinner at another friend’s house. “Kamayan” is a Filipino thing where we place the food on banana leaves and eat with our hands. I’ve heard non-Filipinos saying it’s nasty but it’s just so fun to eat that way. In fact, we even had an American eating with us with her hands too. It makes eating more fun and I guarantee you, you’ll eat more than you usually do. LOL.

And then last night, it was our friends’ mom’s birthday. So we had krispy pata (pork leg), marinated beef, beef and broccoli, and lobster!!! Yummy!!!

And now the goodies and freebies I’ve received the last two weeks… Alexander McQueen bow tie tank, SlimMe by MeMoi leggings and shorts, Elle Decor magazine, Amrita Singh green gladiator sandals, Hale Bob platform sandals, and Tart studded leggings. WEEE!!! See, it pays to blog and join sample sale sites and invite friends. Have a great weekend ahead!

We have planned to watch the cheapest tickets available. LOL, I know we’re so cheap when it comes to these things. But that’s only because we have been saving our money for our home plus my bag addiction and Hubby’s car addiction as well. LOL! If you are really into something, you’re willing to sacrifice other things for the things you really want. But anyway, the $50 tickets sold out in a week. Luckily they added more seats. But we didn’t decide until yesterday. We have friends coming over from California and Maryland who will be watching the big Pacquiao fight and we have to take them to the Cowboys Stadium. So what will we be doing while we wait? Besides, the fight is HERE! It’s going to be at our Cowboy Stadium! It’s like a once in a lifetime event that I don’t want to look back and regret not watching. I know it’s just a boxing fight, but hey, these simple things that make life fun and exciting should not be taken for granted. Life is short. So I’d like to be able to make the most out of it. Sure, I can still watch a boxing fight in the future. But will it be at the Cowboy Stadium? Will it be with Manny? Who knows? So while it’s there, I say grab the opportunity. At least before I die, I can say that I have watched a live boxing event in my home city and with Filipino’s Pride Manny Pacquiao!

Not knowing that I can still find tickets, I checked online and found 2nd row seats for $45, of course plus service fee and shipping, it comes to about $60 each. And so we ordered. Now we’re so excited. Our tickets are arriving tomorrow!

Anyways, last Sunday, I took a much needed sleep/rest. So in the afternoon, Hubby and I were able to go about our usual Sunday rendezvous. On our way home, we decided to drop by a bookstore for one of our fave past times… reading. Okay, don’t get us wrong. Hubby hates to read books… and I… well I’m also lazy to read books until I’ve read Meg Cabot’s writing. Hubby on the other hand, goes to the bookstore with me to read car magazines. Then he started reading his childhood favorites – MARVEL! Okay, I’m goin’ way out of the topic. I know the title reads Style Inspiration for Spring 2010, but until now, it’s got nothing to do with what I’ve just typed. Well, to keep the story short, I decided to read the March edition of Vogue last weekend. And, I was inspired by many beautiful things…

Valentines Day Movie at Movie Tavern

It was our first time to watch at Movie Tavern and it was indeed a great theater to begin with. Movie Tavern is like a restaurant/bar/movie house. When you go inside, there’s a bar. Then when you get to the theater room itself, there are tables in front of you. A waiter/waitress will hand you a menu in case you want to order. There’s also a button in the table that you can press when you’d like to call the waiter/waitress. Pretty cool. I loved the movie too but it’s not something that I will want to watch again or buy in DVD/Blu-Ray or even rent. It reminds me of the movie “Love Actually”. It shows bits and pieces of different peoples lives and how they all relate to each other. But this time, it all happens on Valentines Day – how different people celebrate it (or not), in their own way. It was fun. I loved the story but it’s just not something that I will watch over and over again.

Korean House BBQ

After drinks and the movie, we headed to the newly opened Korean restaurant in our neighborhood – Korean House BBQ. I just love Korean Food. I love the ton of appetizers that they serve and I so love Korean short ribs. I’ll tell you more about this food trip in another post. I know I haven’t been posting about restaurant reviews in a long time. So I’ll be doing that soon.

Home Goods and Marshalls

After having lunch at Korean House BBQ, we ran some errands then continued our date at Home Goods store – the home goods store inside a store – Marshalls! One of our plans for our date was to buy the pedestal where I plan to put our speakers. And so we did. However, when we got there, the original design we were supposed to get was no longer available. It was supposed to be $19.99 a piece. But instead, we found a better looking one. The only catch is, it was more expensive at $39.99 each. OUCH! This is bad. But after thinking long and hard, well, we don’t want to settle for anything less. We wanted this. So we got it.

Valentines Day Goodies

On the other hand, while I was busy taking photos of great deals and steals at Marshalls, I found myself loving soooo many pieces to death! I have loads of photos at Marshalls which I am so excited to share with you. And because of that, I was tempted to get some for myself. Hubby and I originally planned to get ourselves tools for the home as Valentine’s Day presents. I’ll get him work tools (which is actually for the home), and he will get me kitchen tools (which is still for the home). But then I saw this trench coat.

Trench Coat

As a Fashionista, one should have a trench coat. If you recall, Nina Garcia names it one of the must-have pieces in all her books. A trench coat is classic. Even Gwyneth Paltrow suggests that a trench coat is an essential piece in a woman’s wardrobe. Trench Coats are perfect for spring. It’s for the windy season. It’s also for the rainy season. It’s that perfect coat that you can grab when it’s not too cold yet not as warm. I’ve told Hubby way back that I have always wanted on and will definitely get one soon. And so I did.

I was supposed to take photos of the jackets available at Marshalls but I saw this first and fell in love. After getting this, I stopped looking because I feared that I might find so many other great stuff. This trench coat is from Vertigo Paris and the MSRP is $360. However, I think the marked down price is $80, but at Marshalls, it’s only $39.99. That is so cheap considering that Burberry trench coats can cost around $400-$2000 or even more. Of course mine is not Burberry but it definitely serves its purpose and is as fashionable as most gorgeous trench coats too. And just look at the lining inside. So luscious.

Boyfriend Blazer

This one I bought because I really want a long blazer, again for spring. And with the leopard lining, it looks so hip and trendy. It’s going to be perfect for that Safari look for Spring! What’s even better is the price. MSRP is around $50. However, Marshall’s was selling it for $24.99… previously! They’ve marked it down, perhaps because it was the only one left… to… an oh so shocking price of $7.00!!! I was definitely in luck.

Sheer Peacock Blouse

And even luckier, I got this sheer peacock-print blouse for only… $0.70! Yup, it’s no typo! I got it for seventy CENTS! Just wear a tank top inside and voila! You’re off to a spring or summer retreat! Wear it with denim shorts or white skirt or cropped pants or leggings and you’re on your way to a fun filled vacation.

Oh don’t you just love Marshalls? I know I do… and I still have a ton of photos to share with you soon. But now, let’s wrap this post up. After we had our mini shopping spree, we went to have dinner at a fast food place. I know… the lunch was more special than the dinner. But that’s what we have planned. We still have a ton of furniture, tools, and decor to buy for the house, so we don’t want to splurge on anything else right now, except of course for a $0.70 blouse, right? LOL. Besides, we had our Valentines Date part 2 the following day… and we had to buy more items for our home.

After dinner, it was time to get Hubby’s gift… more work tools… a complete set of all sorts… drill bits and what have you’s. And he loves it. He’s a DIY handy man. He loves upgrading his car and tuning it on his own. At the same time, it was just Hubby and I who restored this home that we recently acquired. We’re painters, carpenters, and laminate wood floor installers. And of course, I’m the designer. Haha. But I did most of the paint job here at home. Hubby did the harder parts. Oh wow, this is already a really long post. Until next time.

Marshalls: One of My Fave Stores

I checked my photos folder to see if there’s something I haven’t shared with you and they appeared to be random photos from my iPhone. Then I saw this photo. I thought I had taken several shots at Marshalls but it appears I only got one decent shot there. Good thing I saw this because now I decided not to get the pieces from Forever 21 and just go to Marshalls this weekend. Marshalls is one of my favorite stores indeed. It’s got everything I need. Take for example this sexy Calvin Klein dress which is normally $128 but was being sold for $39.99 at Marshalls but was marked down to $19.99. There are a lot of trendy pieces available too. I found sequined tank tops and shirts that were selling for $7 bucks! Imagine that. And remember by uber cheap Givenchy tights? I tell you, Marshalls is heaven for me. I so regret not getting the Ralph Lauren: Lauren Label sweater/jacket that was oh so chic and only $20. Oh well. There’s always something to be found here.

I am very much looking forward to tomorrow or Sunday or holiday Monday, or whenever I can go when the road is clear from snow/ice. Aside from women’s, they also have men’s and children’s clothing, shoes, and accessories. You can find DKNY jackets there for less than $50; Michael Kors pants for $20 and tops for $10-15; Roxy swim wear and beach wear for less than $20; Nine West and Steve Madden shoes below $50 and so much more! And their HOME GOODS, a home store within the Marshalls store – is such a delightful place to go when you’re decorating your home. I will take photos next time to share with you all the goodies that can be found there. I can’t wait!

Louis Vuitton Josephine Wallet

I posted this awhile back as a great Valentines Day gift to your loved ones. Although I think I have mentioned in a previous post that I already saw this wallet in person, I think I wasn’t able to feature the iPhone shot here. I was sneaky enough to take a photo while looking at it. It’s not as sturdy as the more expensive Louis Vuitton wallets but for the price of $390, this is worth it. I wouldn’t want to pay $700 for a wallet unless I already have the important dream bags on my list. So for $390, this is well worth it. I’m going to have you soon baby… in red of course. But this blue green is not at all bad in person. Well, if you’re interested, you better check it out yourself. Go to the nearest LV boutique before they run out!

Louis Vuitton Sunglasses

And guess what, I have another sneaky shot of me at Louis Vuitton… LOL! I plan to get one of their sunglasses too… in the not so near future. There are three Louis Vuitton sunglasses that I like. I’m thinking if I’m gonna get the Ursula Strass, the Conspiration Pilote (an aviator sunglasses that reveals the LV monogram on its lenses in bright sunlight), or this one I’m wearing with LV logos on top of the frame. I’m thinking the Conspiration Pilote would be best. What do you think?

Robb & Stucky Interiors

What I love to call the Louis Vuitton of home furniture and decor is Robb & Stucky Interiors. Because they were holding a sample sale at NorthPark Center mall last time we were there, Hubby and I decided to go inside. Well, we just wanted to check out the sale even if we knew it would still be expensive.

For example, this dog bed costs hundreds of dollars…

And take a look at that elegant Poker Table…

The Poker Table alone (yes, without the chairs) was on sale for $1,647… It was one of the cheaper pieces they have there. I found a gorgeous vanity chair for our room but it costs about two thousand dollars.

2010 NBA All Stars Dallas

Aside from Valentines Day, this week is all about NBA All Stars for the basketball fans. Of course, I am proud to say that NBA All Stars 2010 is right here in Dallas. Aside from that, fellow Filipino Manny Pacquiao will be taking on Joshua Clottey on the 13th of March here in Dallas as well. Okay, contrary to what people think, the Dallas Cowboy Stadium is located in Arlington. However, most people would just refer to it as Dallas, probably short for DFW. At the same time, the Dallas Cowboy Stadium will be hosting the Super Bowl next year! I’m so excited!

The Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area, a title designated by the U.S. Census as of 2003, encompasses 12 counties within the U.S. state of Texas. The metropolitan area is further divided into two metropolitan divisions: Dallas–Plano–Irving and Fort Worth–Arlington. Residents of the area informally refer to it as the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, the acronym DFW, or simply The Metroplex (the term was originally invented to refer to Dallas/Fort Worth), which is the economic and cultural hub of the region commonly called North Texas or North Central Texas.

I probably should go around the area and see if I find any basketball stars noh? Maybe we should go clubbing or bar hopping tonight or tomorrow night.

And to end this very long post, just wanted to share with you the flock of birds that we usually see around the city. We call it a bird conference or their chismisan (gossip) time. LOL! See above the Race Trac gas station, on the left side of the roof? Those are hundreds of birds hanging out. LOL. I just love to take photos when hundreds of them gather around.
