Delicious Food + My Goodies and Freebies

Posted on March 19th, 2010 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | Leave a Comment »

Forgive me for not posting too much photos for the past two weeks. It’s just that I have been enjoying a much needed break. LOL. Too many things happening such as a friend visiting and watching “The Event: Pacquiao vs Clottey” and a couple of dinners at friends’ houses. Before I share with you my goodies and freebies for the past two weeks, let me share with you the delicious meals we’ve had… this is really bad, considering that Spring is coming up this weekend and before you know it, it’s gonna be Summer soon. Gotta lose those pounds! LOL!

By the way, forgive the photos because they were from the iPhone.

The night before the Pacquiao-Clottey fight, we had really delicious pancit (noodles) along with some delicious fish, kilawin and pork. Ate Marissa cooks really well. YUMMY!!! We couldn’t stay that long though ‘coz we promised to take our friend (from California) to a Dallas Club for the Pacquiao pre-party. I will probably post something all about it soon.

Restaurant Review: Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Posted on March 15th, 2010 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | 3 Comments »

Have you tried Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen? Hopefully this restaurant review I’m about to share with you encourages you to try out Pappadeaux. Obviously, this means that I enjoyed our lunch here. :) Well, of course. Who wouldn’t love such a lovely restaurant with excellent service and humongous and delicious food to boast? Before I start our Pappadeaux experience, here are a few things I have to share about Pappadeaux…

  • Pappadeaux is one of the 3 favorite restaurants of Beyonce in Texas
  • If you are planning to visit or attend an event at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Arlington, Texas is the best place to dine. It’s just a few blocks away. You can see the Stadium from Pappadeaux.
  • Since it’s craw fish season, it’s the best place to go right now!!!

P.S.

Photos were taken from iPhone, Olympus, and Google maps. LOL.

Now the story behind the founder/owner…

From the day he first learned to string a line, C. H. Pappadeaux was hooked on fishing. And it took him exactly no time at all to become the very best. There wasn’t a single creature in the sea he couldn’t bring in. Of course, there was that one time he brought in two. Many years ago, C. H. was hauling in the last of his nets, when his boat was suddenly smashed to pieces, knocking him oars over elbows right into the Gulf!

Floundering for air, he caught sight of two of the most gigantic mahi-mahi that had ever lived! Boatless, but otherwise unscathed, C.H. caught a hold of some fishing line, tied it to those monster fish, and proceeded to plant one foot on each of their backs! Before he knew it, C. H. was ridin’ those babies all the way back to the French Quarter like he was king of the sea! Needless to say, the feast that night was incredible.

Today, C.H.’s legacy lives on in every dish we serve at Pappadeaux. From the bold flavors of our fresh-from-the-boat seafood, to our outstanding service, we’re carrying on the Pappadeaux tradition of being the best there is.

How to Make Leche Flan

Posted on January 27th, 2010 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | 4 Comments »

Dear Fashionistas, today we’ll take a break from bags, shoes, clothes, accessories, etc. Instead, I’m going to show you how to make leche flan or caramel custard. I recently made Leche Flan for a friend’s birthday. So I decided to feature it here. After all, some of you have requested more recipe posts.

I hope you like flan (leche flan) or caramel custard. :) Not to brag, but a lot of people love this. That’s why I’m sharing with you this simple recipe that I’m sure your family and friends will love. My niece, even when she was a baby, loved eating flan. I even supplied flan to a Filipino take-out store back in Maryland and I was surprised that even non Filipinos were loving my Philippine leche flan. :) Let’s start.

This recipe yields two round 8-inch flans. You can use the oval tin pan (llanera) that Filipinos use for leche flan. You can also use any kind of foil or cake pan. Just make sure to keep your flan to just about an inch thick.

Caramel Syrup

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Hubby’s Bday Part 4

Posted on February 27th, 2008 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | Leave a Comment »

Here’s the video as promised in Part 3. This video is a preview of my surprise Birthday dinner for Hubby at Kobe Japanese Steak House. Watch out for the erupting onion volcano-turned-train. Also, watch out how we caught the shrimp with our mouths! I didn’t catch it the first time so I was given a second chance! Drew was pretty sure the cook was a Filipino in disguise. He had that Chinese/Japanese accent which was so easy to copy for most Filipinos. He did ask us though where we’re from. Anyway, I’m glad the birthday celebrant had fun because I sure did.

Mocha Cake Recipe

Posted on February 26th, 2008 by Fashion Juice (Admin) | 1 Comment »

Yesterday, February 25, was hubby’s bday… It was a looooooooooooong day… Was so busy with all the preparations, so wasn’t able to post much. It has been a while that I’ve posted a recipe. So here, I’m showing you the mocha cake I’ve made for my hubby. I’m sharing the recipe (errrrr… more like how to prepare). I had so much to do for his bday that I have to make an instant cake not look like an instant cake. Since Fashion Juice is all about fashion, why not glam up an instant cake as well? haha…

Mocha Cake
NOTE: The frosting I used was made from scratch! I adopted it from Martha Stewart’s Meringue Frosting.
