Double Pearl

The double pearl earrings and necklaces are among the coveted pieces of jewelry ever since Dior and Chanel sent these babies down the runway. If I remember correctly, the “Mise en Dior” tribal earrings (the double pearl ones) came out mid-2013 and immediately sold out. It’s no surprise after the likes of Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Olivia Palermo and Emma Watson were seen wearing them. After all, with a tag price of $290 for a Dior piece worn by Hollywood celebs, it was a sure-fire hit. Don’t get me wrong though – $290 is no joke. But compared to getting Dior purses that retail for $3,000 and up, the pearl earrings are those pieces you may call “affordable luxury“. And because of the success, Dior even followed up with the gum tee shirt earrings which has the same shape and style but comes with a matte texture in fun and bright colors!

On the other hand, there’s the Chanel double pearl choker necklace from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection. There were two versions – the one on the left worn by IT model Cara Delevigne sold for $1,875 and the ones worn by Lupita Nyong’O and Miley Cyrus below retailed for $1,950. A pretty hefty price tag for costume jewelry. But those who love high fashion didn’t think twice about getting them. Unlike the Dior earrings though, these Chanel double pearl necklaces can be a little intimidating to wear, especially if you’re conservative when it comes to fashion. But – you can easily style this with a dress if you’re going somewhere nice and want to look all fancy.

I’ve had my eye on the Dior double pearl earrings and Chanel double pearl necklace for awhile. I know I wouldn’t spend that much on the necklace, but I would for the earrings. However, it’s sold out. So imagine my delight when I found similar pieces of jewelry for a fraction of the cost! Even better was that this pearl necklace has smaller pearls than the Chanel ones. So if you were a little skeptic to wear giant pearl balls hanging on your neck, then perhaps a smaller and “less screaming” version will do the trick! Anthropologie has another version that’s even smaller than what I’m wearing. But I prefer the size on mine and it was $20 cheaper before Anthropologie put theirs on sale.

On the other hand, I love love love my Dior-inspired double pearl earrings. And you know what? they also have it in matte, black, purple, pink and a bedazzled one! Both accessories are from Style by Stories based in Sweden. But don’t worry because they ship world-wide, free shipping on orders over 50 Euros, and I got mine in a week or less. So how did I style my double pearl accessories? Check out my outfit below.
