This morning was the opening of Costco in Kapolei in Hawaii. The store has a 160,000 square ft space which is 5,000 square ft larger than the Iwilei store. It is the only Costco on Oahu with an indoor snack area. And as expected, there where hundreds of people lined up at the opening. Umm, are we in a recession? Haha… it seems like people can’t stop to shop especially if they are looking at discounted prices from Costco!

Imagine, there were 300 people who entered Costco upon opening ahead of schedule at around 7:42 in the morning! Probably the manager opened early out of pity, after seeing that the people have been waiting in line since 6 in the morning! At 9 in the morning, their 700-stall parking lot was packed with cars. Those who came in late were waiting for other customers to leave. But it wasn’t just the parking that people were waiting for – even the shopping carts were gone – being filled by the early birds.

So what’s the hottest selling item? Aside from the 2-for-1 18-pack eggs, the people were on the run for $2,000 Chanel leather flap bags! OH MY GOODNESS!!! I don’t know which Chanel flap bag they’re talking about. But according to reports, the bags being sold for $2,000 were the original $3,000 bags!!! Could it be the Chanel flap bags of my dreams? By now, they expect the Chanel bags to be sold out. Perhaps as I’m typing this post, they are already gone. I am actually torn with this news – yes it’s a great bargain for sure and if I were there in Hawaii, I would have probably gone to Costco too. On the other hand, I am not sure how it affects the image of Chanel. But, after learning about this news, I then learned that Costco occasionally does this… they’ve sold Fendi, YSL, and even Cartier on various Costco branches across the nation… They do it from time to time, changing labels to feature. They’ve previously sold Bottega Venetta woven bags for below $1,500! That’s almost 50% off! So I say, why not? So what if you buy your Chanel at Costco? The important thing is, you got your Chanel bag at a great price! If this is the case then, I’ll probably head on to Costco soon…
