Men in Texas Spend the Most on Clothes

Except for my husband… haha! Just kidding… but true enough, I’d have to argue with him just to buy new set of clothes for him – coz he doesn’t shop – and he doesn’t want me to shop for him. On the bright side, he loves racing (car racing) so much so that he’s willing to buy racing shoes, shirts with racing designs, and caps with racing teams in it. Whew – what a relief. But if I need to dress him up a bit, I just have to be a little bit sneaky. Haha. Anyway, so what’s with this “Men in Texas Spend the Most on Clothes?”
It’s a fun short read from NY Mag, which actually came from WWD:
The annual average household expenditure on menswear in Austin, TX is $1,788, the most of any U.S. city. New York came in tenth at $1,108, following a slew of western cities like Las Vegas (No. 2), San Diego (No. 5) and L.A. (No. 9). We’re from Austin and we’re confused. Khaki shorts, polo shirts, and baseball caps don’t cost that much. And before you Northerners jump to any conclusions, no one wears cowboy boots. Maybe they’re shelling out more for the increasingly rare loose-fitting pant.
Apparently, men in Austin loves to buy Ralph Lauren? Hehe… And also, they always pay retail, unlike New Yorkers who enjoy sample sales. But hey, I don’t shop retail either! I wait for the major sales in town plus there are a lot of outlet stores in Texas! That is not an excuse!
