Manila’s Hot Designer Rajo Laurel

I know I’ve been posting a lot of stuff tonight but perhaps that could be a result of deprivation – from not being able to surf or blog much during the day because I am stumped with tons of projects. I am glad however, that I’m able to post a lot tonight because I was able to complete my milestones for the day. Yes, I’m trying to get organized in terms of work. Haha. Well enough about that, let me share with you something about Rajo Laurel.
One of the popular designers in Manila, Philippines, must I say, is Rajo Laurel. I’m actually very lucky to have an outfit designed by him. On the contrary, it’s no outfit that I can ever wear again. Why? Well, just click to find out more!
Yup, I’m really posting this funny looking picture when I was just in first year college. Funny because me and my fellow cheerdancers were all still looking like “nene’s” – a slang term for little girls. But I’m posting this because I’m proud to have at least owned something from such a talented Filipino designer such as Rajo Laurel.

The reason we had our cheerdancing outfits designed by him is because his sister, Gela was a co-cheerdancer of mine. Too bad she’s not in the photo. Nevertheless, Gela was such a nice, funny, and “sosyal na hindi sosyal” (down to earth) person with whom I’ve had “kwela” (fun) times with. When we were already running out of options and running out of time, she asked her dear brother Rajo Laurel to design for us. She took us to her place and introduced us to Rajo then he started getting our measurements. Imagine, “cheerdancing outfit lang, Rajo Laurel pa”! Thanks Gela – it will forever be treasured!
Anyhow, the reason why I’m reminiscing such times is because I came across Rajo Laurel’s blog! OMG – he blogs! Now I’ll have to add him to my favorite links! It’s actually the Philippine magazine PREVIEW’s blog, Style Bible (sounds familiar, eh?) where he has his own section.
EDIT: Pardon me for the wrong information here. Thanks to Rajo for clarifying. Anyhow, it was where I learned that he is now designing outfits for Viktor & Rolf! OMG! I can only imagine how thrilled and honored he was/is to design for such an international label. In fact, I’ve actually reported about Viktor & Rolf at my other writing gig – Right Celebrity’s Right Fashion. Although right now, I’ve taken a break from it due to a hectic schedule and because I want to work on my personal site first before I step out to other writing gigs.
Anyway going back to Rajo Laurel topic – I had so much fun reading his blog. It brought back memories of Manila and made me miss a lot of things back there. There are tons of places to go to and tons of things to do. Perhaps I’ll be posting about them soon just to share to foreigners what they can expect once they visit my beloved country, Philippines. Anyhow, if you’d like to be entertained the Filipino way, check out the fun reads at Rajo Laurel’s blog.
xoxo

HI!
I remember that Uniform! LOL! Hi! I just want to say thank you for blogging about me and my blog. I need to clarify one thing, I do not design for Viktor and Rolf! LOL! Would love to have had that chance, but alas it has not happened yet. Just to make it clear because I do not want to mislead anyone. Again thanks for the shout out. Have a great day and hope that you find your way back to Manila soon!
Best!
RAJO!
