DKNY Motorcycle Jacket: How to Wear?

My latest buy is the DKNY Motorcycle Jacket. I have been eyeing on leather motorcycle jackets for quite some time. The only thing that’s stopping me is the price. That’s why I first ended up with the boyfriend jacket – the black blazer that’s such a hit nowadays. But given the chance to choose from the two, I’ll definitely go for the leather motorcycle jacket. Let me share with you the details of my purchase below.
The motorcycle jacket I’m wearing above is from DKNY. It retails for $120 and I got it for only $59.99. It’s a great buy, don’t you think?
I found it at Marshalls. So if you’re liking it, Marshalls is the answer. I also have tips on how to wear it below if you’re doubtful.
Well, it’s not the usual heavy leather motorcycle jacket but is quite close for something I know I can wear even if the motorcycle jacket goes out of trend. It looks like some vintage leather which I really like. I just love the edgy look it brings to any outfit. Let me show you a couple of pictures I took of my new motorcycle jacket.
If you’re looking at buying your motorcycle jacket anytime soon, here are a few tips on how to wear it
- Don’t zip your motorcycle jacket all the way. In fact, it’s better to wear it unzipped unless you’re headed home on a really cold and windy night.
Zipping up your motorcycle jacket will give you an unflattering waistline making you look heavy. - Spice up your motorcycle jacket by wearing multiple shirts beneath it. The technique is to layer. Use shirts that peek from below the crop of the jacket. It’s so boring to wear the same length of shirt and jacket at the same time.
- Add some splash of color. It will lighten the overall look of your outfit. Color compliments your dark jacket especially if you’re wearing it during the day. Of course at night, you can go ahead with the liquid leggings or dark skinny denims.
- Once in a while, you can add up some big sunglasses or graphic tee. Just be careful not to overdo it because the motorcycle jacket is a big statement on its own. I’d personally go away from the hat when wearing this jacket.
- Always mix your look. Don’t just use the motorcycle jacket with skinny jeans each time. Wear it with a dress, wide leg pants, scarves, tights or leggings, and so on. If you wear a fitted top, you can go ahead with something baggy or loose on the bottom.

A motorcycle jacket is created to protect your body against hitting the ground hard when you come off your bike, if you’re serious about riding, you should not buy a jacket for the fashion, but rather one which will protect you from being seriously harmed. There are plenty of great looking jackets out there, which have body armour and which also look fantastic!! Just my 2 cents and common knowledge when it comes to safety and riding…
It is a cute jacket, but I’d prefer my Fieldsheer Ladies jacket which I know will protect me if I hit the ground..

Hi Leanne, I understand where you’re coming from
I know this motorcycle jacket is not the real thing people wear when riding the motorcycle. It’s just the trend nowadays. The motorcycle jacket is the black leather or faux leather jacket with a zipper in front usually angled or at the side to make the front double breasted/overlapping… it’s just called motorcycle jacket in today’s fashion. You can see a lot of celebrities wearing the trend. Some fashionable jackets made up of cotton, wool, or tweed are even made into such style and are still called motorcycle jackets.
This jacket won’t protect you at all. It’s simply for fashion sake.
